If you use the term "tennis elbow", everyone knows in principle what pain is meant. From a medical point of view, this is a pain syndrome whose origin zones are located in the area of the hand and finger muscles and the outer approaches of the humerus. Accordingly, a tennis elbow is a so-called tendinitis (= tendon tendinosis) of the forearm extensor muscles, which is usually caused by overuse in the job, or even sports (for example, tennis). causes
"Tennis elbow" does not mean that only tennis players or athletes suffer from this condition. In fact, the "tennis elbow" in athletes occurs only relatively rarely, usually only when a wrong technique, especially in the tennis backhand, is applied.
As the tennis elbow is most often caused by chronic mechanical overuse, craftsmen, hairdressers, podiatrists, physiotherapists, mechanics, road and construction workers or secretaries are much more often affected. Generally affected are also those professional groups who have to work a lot on the computer. The increasing use of the particular mouse of the computer in recent years has led to an increasing number of patients suffering from a tennis elbow. New German one speaks in these patients of a so-called mouse arm. This painful wear disorders occur in the neck area of the extensor muscles, which is affected by it much more often than the flexor muscles.
diagnosis
Due to the very typical complaint description and the very typical movement and pressure pain points during the medical examination, the way to the diagnosis is rather short. Only rarely is an ultrasound necessary
