  • The basin floor (BeBo) is not only for pregnant women, before and after a fertility bond, an important muscle, but also for man and woman in everyday life, a serious muscle.

The pelvic floor is not only an important muscle for pregnant women, before and after childbirth, but is also a serious muscle for men and women in everyday life. In physiotherapy, gymnastics and pelvic floor muscles play an important role. This is to be taken seriously with regard to the back, because weak pelvic floor muscles can also cause back pain. Having a strong pelvic floor can alleviate bladder and uterine prolapse as well as urinary incontinence and fecal incontinence, in in men and women alike.

Sexuality

The pelvis floor muscle also plays an important role in sexual activity. Its targeted training can increase the orgasm ability of both women and men, and also improve endurance. The root cause of weak pelvic floor muscles in women is usually pregnancy, e.g. a perineum incision during the birth; other causes of weakness include being overweight, malaise or a chronic cough.

Problems may include:
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Incontinence
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Uterine prolapse
  • Low back pain
  • Prostate complaints in men, with uncontrolled urine output
  • Orgasm reduction
Goals:
  • Strengthening various sections of the muscle
  • Sensitization to the muscle
  • Body awareness
  • Sensitization to bladder function
  • Pelvic floor exercises through various everyday movements
  • Recognizing the relationship between breathing and the pelvic floor muscles
  • Recognizing the relationship between the pelvic floor muscles, abdominal muscles and leg muscles
  • Improvement of quality of life
  • Musculature information, anatomical knowledge; function de BeBo
  • Tips and tricks related to the pelvic floor muscle

Biofeedback

In recent years, we have included biofeedback in our treatment regimen for optimized activation of the pelvic floor. In the beginning we had some doubts because it was not clear to us how it would be received.
Today, we can say unequivocally that conventional methods of strengthening the pelvic floor often miss the finish line. After the tenth session, women often did not know how to tense the vaginal muscles and coordinate the contraction in the RIGHT direction. Even during individual training sessions, they could not evaluate whether they used the appropriate musculature selectively, directionally and forcefully. This was not without consequence. Tension was confused with pressing, and the dropping of the bladder got worse – to the point that health-promoting aspect of a strengthened pelvic floor became the exact opposite.
Our physical therapy clinic views pelvic floor exercises holistically! And we support the selective tensing of individual muscles with biofeedback upon request. Patients thus learn targeted tension and relaxation, strengthening the muscles in a targeted way, and thus preventing the formation of uterine injuries and incontinence. In addition, patients feel more stable and agile. The entire complex – pelvis, pelvic floor, lumbar spine and pelvic organs – is also called the Powerhouse. So more power to you!
