Connection between the brain and the lymph systems: new discoveries and their therapeutic impact

"In 2013, scientists succeeded in determining that a distribution network exists in the brain: the glymphatic system. This system drains and removes metabolic end products from the brain, thus working in a way similar to the lymph system in the rest of the body. In 2015 another research team detected lymphatic vessels in the brain, the existence of which was unknown until then.

There are specialized manual techniques that work directly on the glymphatic system, the cerebral intercellular fluid, and the lymphatic pathways in the brain membranes. Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT) is used to locate areas in the body where fluid is accumulated or fibrosis is present, and the lymphatic pathways most appropriate for drainage are determined. LDT works using gentle techniques that address the body's fluid and lymphatic system in order to activate the circulation and the immune system.” B. Chikly, A. Chickly (2016)
